How can I be sure my health information is protected online?

Your Lockheed Martin health plan is required to maintain various physical and technical safety procedures to ensure your health information is stored in an environment that is secure and safe. When you are viewing or entering sensitive information online, for example at the secure website of your health plan carrier, you should expect to use a unique user name/ID and password as a form of security. There may be a lock icon or message on the screen confirming that the site you are visiting is secure. Another way to check whether or not you are at secure website is to look at the address bar of your web browser. If the address there begins with https:// (notice the "s" after "http"), then this means you are at a secure site. Such sites use technology referred to as SSL or Secure Socket Layer software that encrypts or codes all information going to or from the site. SSL provides an additional layer of protection for your data.
